Autobiography in Five Short Chapters by Portia Nelson

Parallel Structure
This is the shortest book that I have ever read. It only has five chapters and each chapter is less than a paragraph. This book has parallel structure. It has repetition of the same pattern of phrases within a sentence. It shows the importance of the main idea. The author did well with using the parallel structure. Even though the book is short, the repetition that she used made me eager to see what happened next. Her writing is short, however, it gave enough to want to read it again and again. I also like this book because I can relate to this story. Chapter one is a story of my first semester in the ECE program. Like how the book stated, I was lost and hopeless. It took my forever to overcome and finish the semester well. Chapter two is like this semester. I fall down and was and is in the same place. I feel like chapter three is going to be what is to come for block three. Then hopefully chapter four will be exactly like block four where I will conquer this program. I usually have hard time finding books that I can connect to, but I was able to connect to this book. I will use the strategy of making connection as a mini-lesson. I want the students to be able to write where they can use any of the aspect of writing craft to make connections with the audience that is going to read their writing. I believe that it is essential for the students to write as if they know who the audience is going to be.
