Naruto Vol. 17 Summary: Naruto is a ninja-in-training with an incorrigible knack for mischief. His wild antics amuse his teammates, but Naruto is completely serious about one thing: becoming the world's greatest ninja!

ITACHI'S POWER

What does Sasuke's older brother want with Naruto? As Jiraiya trains Naruto to push beyond his limits, secrets of the past are revealed, and a mysterious shinobi who could change everything begins to take center stage.

MY OPINION

This book picks up where the last left off. Itachi has managed to track down Naruto, but Sasuke arrives before Naruto can be harmed. As Sasuke fights his brother, he quickly learns that he is outclassed by his hated older brother and ends up severely injured and trapped in some form of genjutsu. Meanwhile, Jiraiya arrives and attacks Itachi and Kisame, but the two Akatsuki members flee before they can be beaten. Guy arrives and takes Sasuke back to the village for medical attention while Naruto and Jiraiya continue on their journey to find Lady Tsunade. Along the way, Jiraiya begins to teach Naruto a new move, one that took the Fourth Hokage three years to master. The first portion of the training is to focus his chakra into a water balloon to make the water rotate inside the balloon and bust it. He eventually succeeds and moves onto the next phase - doing the same thing with a rubber ball which is much stiffer than a water balloon and not filled with water. As Naruto struggles with his chakra control, Jiraiya hunts for Tsunade.

Quote: "She's not the type to grow old gracefully, so she's probably using jutsu to mask her appearance. Even though she's actually fifty, she probably looks like she's still in her twenties..."
